Brisbane Dance Audition Photography 

First impressions last.

Put your best foot forward with your audition photography this season and be carefully guided by former professional ballerina Tamara Hanton. Bringing a sharp eye for technique and a world of experience in audition preparation, Tamara and I will work as a team to capture all audition and artistic requirements to make your portfolio stand out and best showcase your talent.

Brisbane Dance Photography Package includes:

  • 1 hour photography session in Brisbane
  • Real time guidance/critic from Tamara Hanton
  • 8 high resolution images perfect for audition submissions  (please see details below on poses), including 2 headshot images
  • 2 artistic full body images

Deliverables

  • 10 Images, professionally retouched and delievered in high resolution by digital download.

Package total:  $750 + gst

Groups of 5 or more receive a discount off the standard photoshoot price and pay a total of $650+gst per dancer.

*to be eligible for this discount sessions must be carried out on the same day and are subject to availability.

About Tamara

Tamara began her dance training at the Dianne McLellan Dance Academy at the age of five. She then trained at the Anne Fraser School of Dance before being accepted into Queensland Ballet’s Professional Year program in 2006. While a PY student Tamara was awarded both the Patricia MacDonald Scholarship and the George Hartnett Funerals Award. She became a Trainee Dancer with the Company in 2008 and Company Dancer in January 2009.

Repertoire highlights include, Mary in Greg Horsman’s Coppelia, Tinkerbell in Trey McIntyre’s Peter Pan, Effie in Peter Schaufuss’ La Sylphide, Song, the Yellow Fairy in Greg Horsman’s The Sleeping Beauty, Ma Cong’s Ersther Vals, Violente in Francois Klaus’s The Sleeping Beauty, Cygnet in Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake, Pas de Trios in Ben Stevenson’s Swan Lake, Victoire and Emilie in Liam Scarlett’s Dangerous Liaisons, Harlot in Sir Kenneth Macmillan’s Romeo and Juliet, Peaseblossem in Liam Scarlett’s A Midsummer Nights Dream and The Winter and Autumn Fairies in Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella.

Retiring in 2019, Tamara is now Digital Content Coordinator at Queensland Ballet, which includes capturing and creating all video and photography content and managing social media channels.

In 2022 Tamara co-created C’est Pointe, a boutique ballet studio focusing on private and online coaching to share her knowledge and passion of ballet with the world.

What Poses are required for my audition?

Please note it is the responsibility of each candidate to come prepared. Most companies will specify any particular pose requirements, please ensure that you read through the application forms prior to the session as re-shoots will not be offered for incorrect or missed poses.  Typical audition photographs are dependant on age group and can look like the following:  

What Should I wear to the photosession?

Please note it is the responsibility of each candidate to come prepared. Most companies will specify any particular garment requirements, please ensure that you read through the application forms prior to the session as re-shoots will not be offered for incorrect attire. As a general rule of thumb, a plain-colour leotard (simple-style: no skirt, no frills, lace, high fancy neckline or multi-straps) and hair neatly groomed is essential.

Candidates applying for male training: a close-fitting t-shirt or dance leotard, dance shorts or plain-colour swimming trunks, short white socks and bare legs (no tights), ballet shoes. Hair neatly groomed, if long please tie back (no headbands).
